Leicester Warship Week
In 1942 the city officially adopted HMS Renown as part of the drive to raise a 300,000 contribution from Leicester's citizens towards war bonds. In addition to a series of events, a commemorative plaque (produced by Leicester College of Arts and Crafts) was placed in the Town Hall.
